Performance Optimized

Performance Optimized is the build standard for a cabinet cut to one subwoofer. Where the Performance Series sizes a box to a driver diameter, a Performance Optimized cabinet takes a named model's published Thiele-Small parameters and solves the net volume, the alignment, the port where there is one and the baffle cutout for that driver alone. The datasheet names the subwoofer it was designed around, and the numbers on it only mean something against that driver. It is the largest part of the Proline X line because most buyers already know which subwoofer they own.

The difference from a universal box is not the quality of the cabinet; it is how tightly the cabinet is tied to the driver. Two subwoofers of the same nominal size can want net volumes that differ by half a cubic foot, and a ported alignment that suits one can be wrong for the other. A cabinet solved to the driver gives it the loading it was engineered for, which is more output and better control from the same amplifier than a general-purpose box of the same construction. Put a different driver in it and it will usually mount, and it will usually be the wrong volume.

The cabinet itself is Langboard Elite MDF on V-groove and dado joinery, CNC cut in Tullahoma, Tennessee, with a 1.5" double front baffle. The double baffle is a Performance Optimized specification: the outer layer is machined as a flush recess so the driver seats against the inner layer, and the extra thickness holds the mounting surface still under sustained excursion. The cutout is machined to the driver's flange and bolt pattern rather than to a generic opening, so the basket seats flush with no gap. Like every Proline X cabinet it ships pre-wired in 12-gauge OFC to the Proline X ABS and carbon-fiber composite terminal cup, with copper ring terminals and stainless hardware.

The series is available sealed and ported, in 8", 10", 12" and 15", single and dual, and in all three shapes: standard front-firing, wedge and down-fire. Standard front-firing is the smallest group, because a cabinet cut to a specific driver is usually being cut to a specific space as well, and those spaces are more often solved by a wedge against a seat back or a down-fire on a cargo floor. All three are solved to the same alignment for a given driver.

Damping follows the alignment. Every sealed cabinet ships with polyfill installed and its quoted volume was calculated with the fill in place. Every ported cabinet ships dry, because damping material changes the volume the port is tuned against. Feet follow the shape: the down-fire cabinets ship with ABS feet, because the orientation depends on the clearance they set, while the standard and wedge cabinets ship without them. Driver mounting hardware is not supplied, since the correct fastener depends on the driver; use what the manufacturer specifies. Performance Optimized cabinets carry a one-year limited warranty. If the driver you own is not in the table, the routers are ours, so a different volume or cutout is a conversation rather than a special order.
