Performance in this enclosure
01Is it a sealed driver?
Efficiency bandwidth product places the motor before anything else is decided.
02What the box does to it
0.65 cu ft against a 6.8 L Vas.
03The watts that reach Xmax (in this enclosure)
Travel scales with the square root of power, so there is one wattage that puts the cone exactly on 23.5 mm — and a bigger one once a subsonic filter stops it wasting travel below the passband.
| Param | Value | Unit | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fs | 44.00 / 45.00 | Hz | free-air resonance |

From the shop floor
Installer's take
0.65 cubic feet per chamber, Qtc 0.690 on the D2. One cabinet serves both coils: the EVL-10 D2 reads Qtc 0.690 with half power at 52.8 Hz, and the D4 reads Qtc 0.721 at 51.3 Hz.
Two chambers at 0.65 each, 26.05 wide, 15 tall, 14.06 at the base. Wire the pair identically.
Cut is 9.39, Skar's own figure. Inserts ship in the kit, not pressed: Skar prints no bolt circle. Mark from the driver, drill, press. It is sealed, so leave the polyfill as it is and run it at 1000 watts or under.

Questions
Does this fit the Skar EVL-10, and will any other 10 inch fit?
The EVL-10, yes, in either coil. The baffle is cut to 9.39 in, Skar's published cutout, under the 10.89 in frame. The 7.16 inch motor clears the cabinet with 0.75 inch to spare. One cabinet serves both coils: the EVL-10 D2 reads Qtc 0.690 with half power at 52.8 Hz, and the D4 reads Qtc 0.721 at 51.3 Hz. Run two of the same coil so the chambers match.
Any other 10, no. The airspace is worked out from the EVL-10's own Qts and Vas, and a different woofer that happened to drop into the hole would not see the alignment printed on this page.
Why 0.65 cubic feet per chamber, and what alignment does it target?
0.65 cubic feet is split between the coils' Butterworth volumes (0.55 for the D2, 0.76 for the D4) on the D2 figures (Fs 44.0 Hz, Qts 0.59, Vas 6.8 liters): Qtc 0.690, half power at 52.8 Hz. One cabinet serves both coils: the EVL-10 D2 reads Qtc 0.690 with half power at 52.8 Hz, and the D4 reads Qtc 0.721 at 51.3 Hz.
Skar's own recommended sealed volume is 1.25 to 1.5 cubic feet, which reads Qtc 0.64 on the D2 and 0.67 on the D4. Skar's numbers are the only published source for this driver, so treat the Qtc as good to a few hundredths.
What amplifier power should I run, and how should I wire it?
Skar rates the EVL-10 at 1000 watts RMS per driver, so target 700 to 1000 watts RMS per driver at the final load.
A pair of EVL-10 D2 drivers can land on 0.5 ohm with all four coils in parallel, 2 ohms as series pairs in parallel, or 8 ohms all in series. A pair of EVL-10 D4 drivers can land on 1 ohm with all four coils in parallel, 4 ohms as series pairs in parallel, or 16 ohms all in series. Anything under 1 ohm, and many amplifiers at 1 ohm, is outside what the amplifier is built for; series wiring is the safe default. Confirm your amplifier's minimum stable impedance first.
Why the wedge angle, and why rear-firing into the trunk?
The seat-side face carries a 20 degree rake that matches the lean of a factory rear seat back, so the cabinet sits flush against it and the cargo space in front stays usable. The baffle is the vertical trunk-lid-side face, so the drivers fire rearward into the trunk cavity.
The trunk acts as an acoustic extension for the sealed box, and the cabin adds real output below 50 Hz, so in-vehicle response runs deeper than the anechoic 52.8 Hz on this page.
Why two separate chambers instead of one shared volume?
Two drivers sharing one sealed volume load each other: each driver's compression stroke becomes the pressure the other works against, which blurs the alignment either would have alone. A bonded full-height 3/4 inch divider gives each driver its own 0.65 cubic feet and its own polyfill.
It also means a failure in one driver does not unload the other, and the alignment on this page is the alignment in each chamber, not an average across a shared box.
What is the expected low-frequency extension?
Anechoic F3 is 52.8 Hz per chamber on the D2, with system resonance at 51.5 Hz. Below Qtc 0.707 the rolloff is gentle and F3 sits above fc, which is what a damped sealed box does.
Those figures exclude cabin gain. In a car the cabin's transfer function adds real output below 50 Hz, so in-vehicle response runs deeper than the numbers above.
Do I need to add polyfill or damping?
No. Polyfill is already installed in both chambers as a light wall lining to control internal reflections, and the quantity is chosen so it does not change the acoustic volume.
Do not add more. Packing a sealed box with fill makes it behave as though it were larger, which walks the alignment away from the 0.65 cubic feet per chamber this cabinet was built to.
Is the driver included, and are the threaded inserts installed?
No driver. This is an enclosure only. You receive the cabinet finished in plush black carpet with the gloss black acrylic baffle insert, one side-mounted pre-wired terminal cup to both positions, the polyfill lining already in place, and a threaded insert kit with stainless machine screws.
The inserts ship loose on purpose: Skar prints no bolt circle for the EVL-10, so you set the driver in the recess, mark its holes, drill and press the inserts. The pair of Skar EVL-10 is purchased separately, and the cabinet is cut direct fit to it, not a general purpose 10 inch box.
