| Wiring Options | Ampere sells the AA-2.0 10 as dual 2 ohm and dual 4 ohm; a matched pair should share a coil. A pair of dual 2 ohm drivers lands on 2 ohms with each woofer's coils in series and the two woofers in parallel, or 8 ohms all in series. A pair of dual 4 ohm drivers lands on 4 ohms with each woofer's coils in series and the woofers in parallel, or 1 ohm with everything in parallel. Anything under 1 ohm, and many amplifiers at 1 ohm, is outside what the amplifier is built for, so series wiring is the safe default. |

Performance in this enclosure
01Is it a sealed driver?
Efficiency bandwidth product places the motor before anything else is decided.
02What the box does to it
1.03 cu ft against a 19.0 L Vas.
03The watts that reach Xmax (in this enclosure)
Travel scales with the square root of power, so there is one wattage that puts the cone exactly on 14.0 mm — and a bigger one once a subsonic filter stops it wasting travel below the passband.
| Param | Value | Unit | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fs | 36.00 / 35.40 | Hz | free-air resonance |
| Qts | 0.510 / 0.560 | D2 / D4 | |
| Vas | 19.00 / 24.19 | L | equivalent compliance |
| Sd | 326.3 / 330.5 | cm² | effective piston area |
| Xmax | 14 | mm | one-way, as Ampere publish it |
| Pe | 500 | W | continuous RMS |
| SPL | 83.6 | dB | 1 W / 1 m, derived from T/S |

From the shop floor
Installer's take
1.03 cubic feet per chamber: Qtc 0.655 on the dual 2 ohm and Qtc 0.757 on the dual 4 ohm, F3 50.2 Hz on the dual 2 ohm and 44.9 Hz on the dual 4 ohm.
Measure the installed height, not the cabinet height: 12.73 tall on its own, 14.48 with the standoffs on the 30 by 15 footprint.
Floor slot is 0.99 times the cone area at the 1.75 standoff, under the 1.0 I like. For hard use, taller feet or front firing.
Ampere's table needed reading carefully: no cone area is printed, so it is derived from their own Vas, Fs and moving mass. Displacement is estimated.
Inserts ship in the kit, not pressed: Ampere prints no bolt circle. Mark from the driver, drill, press. Sealed, so leave the polyfill as it is and run it at 500 watts or under per driver.

Questions
Does this fit the Ampere Audio AA-2.0 10, and will any other 10 inch fit?
The AA-2.0 10, yes, in both coil versions. The baffle is cut to 9.13 in, Ampere's published cutout, under the 10.28 in frame. The 5.61 inch motor clears the cabinet with 6.37 inch to spare. Run two of the same coil so the chambers match.
Any other 10, no. The airspace is engineered around the AA-2.0 10's own Qts and Vas, and a different woofer that happened to drop into the hole would not see the alignment printed on this page.
Why 1.03 cubic feet per chamber, and what alignment does it target?
1.03 cubic feet net per chamber on Ampere's published figures: the dual 2 ohm reads Qtc 0.655 with resonance at 46.3 Hz and half power at 50.2 Hz, and the dual 4 ohm reads Qtc 0.757 with resonance at 47.9 Hz and half power at 44.9 Hz. One cabinet serves both coils, built to the volume that keeps both closest to maximally flat. That is spread either side of maximally flat: the lower-Q coil a little drier, the higher-Q coil a little punchier.
Cabinet gain in a vehicle lifts the bottom end further, so in the car this reads deeper than the anechoic figures.
What amplifier power should I run, and how should I wire it?
Ampere rates the AA-2.0 10 at 500 watts RMS per driver, so target 350 to 500 watts RMS per driver at the final load.
Ampere sells the AA-2.0 10 as dual 2 ohm and dual 4 ohm; a matched pair should share a coil. Confirm your amplifier's minimum stable impedance first.
How tall is this once the standoffs are on?
The cabinet is 12.73 inches tall measured in the down fire position, and that figure excludes the standoffs. The standoffs hold 1.75 inches under the baffle, so plan your space around a finished stack of roughly 14.48 inches.
The footprint is the standard Performance Optimized down fire platform, 30.00 inches wide by 15.00 deep. Height is the only dimension solved to the driver.
Why two separate chambers instead of one shared volume?
Two drivers sharing one sealed volume load each other: each driver's compression stroke becomes the pressure the other works against, which blurs the alignment either would have alone. A bonded full-height 3/4 inch divider gives each driver its own 1.03 cubic feet and its own polyfill.
It also means a failure in one driver does not unload the other, and the alignment on this page is the alignment in each chamber, not an average across a shared box.
What is the expected low-frequency extension?
Anechoic F3 is 50.2 Hz on the dual 2 ohm and 44.9 Hz on the dual 4 ohm per chamber. The lower-Q coil rolls off gently with F3 above fc; the higher-Q coil carries a small lift near resonance.
Those figures exclude cabin gain. In a car the cabin's transfer function adds real output below 50 Hz, so in-vehicle response runs deeper than the numbers above.
Do I need to add polyfill or damping?
No. Polyfill is already installed in both chambers as a light wall lining to control internal reflections, and the quantity is chosen so it does not change the acoustic volume.
Do not add more. Packing a sealed box with fill makes it behave as though it were larger, which walks the alignment away from the 1.03 cubic feet per chamber this cabinet was built to.
Is the driver included, and are the threaded inserts installed?
No driver. This is an enclosure only. You receive the cabinet finished in plush black carpet, one side-mounted pre-wired terminal cup to both positions, the polyfill lining already in place, the standoffs, and a threaded insert kit with stainless machine screws.
The inserts ship loose on purpose: Ampere prints no bolt circle for the AA-2.0 10, so you set the driver in the recess, mark its holes, drill and press the inserts. The pair of Ampere Audio AA-2.0 10 is purchased separately, and the cabinet is cut direct fit to it, not a general purpose 10 inch box.
