No performance graphs are published for this enclosure. Proline X does not draw these curves by hand. Every response, sensitivity and excursion graph on this site is modeled from the woofer maker’s own published Thiele/Small parameters, run against the exact net airspace of the cabinet you are buying, and we rely on the manufacturer to provide those figures. Deaf Bonce publishes the free-air resonance, total Q and compliance volume (Fs, Qts and Vas) for the Machete MFX38, but not the electrical Q (Qes) or the effective cone area (Sd). The sensitivity and excursion curves cannot be computed without them, so rather than publish graphs built on guessed numbers, we publish none.

What this cabinet is built from

The airspace and the sealed alignment come from the parameters Deaf Bonce does publish: Fs, Qts and Vas. This enclosure gives the Machete MFX38 1.35 cubic feet net; its system Q and half-power frequency are on the Specifications tab. If Deaf Bonce publishes the missing parameters, the graphs will be modeled and added here.

Installer's take

1.35 cubic feet net. That is the Butterworth volume for the MFX38 D2 coil, computed from Deaf Bonce's published Fs, Qts and Vas. Deaf Bonce publish no sealed recommendation for the MFX38 (their manual recommends a bass-reflex box), so this alignment is ours, chosen for damping and transient control rather than peak output. Half power lands at 50.7 Hz anechoic, before any cabin gain.

Qtc lands at 0.707, maximally flat, the reference musical alignment, with system resonance at 50.7 Hz.

The cosmetic recess is cut to the 15.55 in frame diameter read from the dimension drawing in Deaf Bonce's manual. Deaf Bonce do not publish driver displacement; the 0.12 cu ft carried here is an estimate for a 15 inch motor, and only the gross figure depends on it.

Measure the base depth. This cabinet is 15.15 inches deep at the trunk floor, 8.60 at the top, and 19.98 wide.

Does the MFX38 come in more than one version?

No. Deaf Bonce sell the MFX38 as a single 4 ohm coil driver, and this cabinet is cut to its 14.06 in cutout and 7.74 in mounting depth.

Why 1.35 cubic feet net?

1.35 cubic feet net. That is the Butterworth volume for the MFX38 D2 coil, computed from Deaf Bonce's published Fs, Qts and Vas. Deaf Bonce publish no sealed recommendation for the MFX38 (their manual recommends a bass-reflex box), so this alignment is ours, chosen for damping and transient control rather than peak output. What amplifier power should I run, and what impedance?

Deaf Bonce rate the MFX38 at 750 watts RMS. The MFX38 is a single 4 ohm coil, so there is no wiring choice to make: one pair of leads to the cup, 4 ohms at the amplifier. Aim for roughly 525 to 750 watts at 4 ohms.

How does a wedge enclosure improve the sound in a trunk installation?

The angled seat-side face matches the roughly 20 degree lean of a factory rear seat, so the cabinet sits flat against it instead of leaving a wasted triangle. The vertical trunk-lid-side face carries the driver, firing rearward into the trunk cavity.

Why a rear-firing wedge instead of a plain box?

A rectangular box of this volume wastes the triangle of space a leaning rear seat creates, and firing into the trunk lid rather than at the seat back gives the cabin a smoother path to the passengers. The wedge takes the same air volume and puts it where the car actually has room.

What is the expected low-frequency extension?

Half power lands at 50.7 Hz anechoic, before any cabin gain. Qtc is 0.707. These figures exclude cabin gain, which in most vehicles adds real output below 40 Hz. Deaf Bonce publish the MFX38's free-air resonance at 30.1 Hz.

Do I need to add polyfill or damping?

No. Polyfill is already installed as a light wall lining and the quantity is chosen so it does not change the acoustic volume. Do not add more.

Is the driver included?

No. This is an enclosure only. You receive the cabinet finished in plush black carpet, with threaded inserts at the driver position, stainless machine screws, one side-mounted pre-wired terminal cup and the polyfill lining already installed.
