This enclosure holds 0.395 cu ft net per chamber. In it the Wavtech thinPRO10 runs a system Qtc of 0.83–0.87 with half power at 41.6–44.5 Hz, and the cone reaches its 20.0 mm travel limit at 1328 W, above the driver’s 750 W thermal rating, so heat stops you before travel does. Run a subsonic filter at 25 Hz and that becomes 1457 W — +130 W, or 10 percent more power for the same 20.0 mm of travel.

01Is it a sealed driver?

Efficiency bandwidth product places the motor before anything else is decided.

EBP = Fs ÷ Qes = 50.0–54.2
SEALED 0–50 TRANSITION 50–100 PORTED 100–150 0 50 100 150 4 54.2 2 50.0
4 · EBP 54.22 · EBP 50.0
At 50.0–54.2 the thinPRO10 sits in the transition band, not the sealed band. That is not a mismatch: a transition motor works in either alignment, and sealed buys a smaller box and a gentler roll-off at the cost of some low-end output. Stage 02 shows what this airspace actually does with it.

02What the box does to it

0.395 cu ft against a 17.0 L Vas.

α = Vas ÷ Vb = 1.52  ·  Fc = Fs√(α+1) = 49–51 Hz  ·  Qtc = 0.83–0.87
20 30 50 70 100 150 200 +6 +0 -6 -12 -18 -24 FREQUENCY · Hz LEVEL · dB −3 dB
4 · Qtc 0.83, Fc 51 Hz, F3 44.5 Hz2 · Qtc 0.87, Fc 49 Hz, F3 41.6 Hz
The box lifts resonance from 31.0–32.0 Hz free-air to 49–51 Hz and half power lands at 41.6–44.5 Hz, anechoic, before any cabin gain. This enclosure ships without a driver, so both coil variants the maker offers are plotted. They do not load the same box the same way.

03The watts that reach Xmax (in this enclosure)

Travel scales with the square root of power, so there is one wattage that puts the cone exactly on 20.0 mm — and a bigger one once a subsonic filter stops it wasting travel below the passband.

PXmax = 1328–1374 W unfiltered  →  1457–1535 W with a 25 Hz subsonic
20 30 50 70 100 150 200 0 8 16 24 FREQUENCY · Hz CONE TRAVEL · mm PAST LINEAR TRAVEL · Xmax 20.0 mm 1328 W reaches Xmax here
4 · 1374 W, no filter2 · 1328 W, no filter4 · 1535 W with subsonic at 25 Hz, 24 dB/oct2 · 1457 W with subsonic at 25 Hz, 24 dB/octXmax 20.0 mm one-way
Every trace touches the limit and no further, because each is drawn at the exact power that puts that coil on 20.0 mm. Unfiltered that is 1328 W, reached first at 29 Hz. It sits above the 750 W the driver can take thermally, so the voice coil gives up before the suspension does. The dashed traces are the same driver behind a subsonic filter at 25 Hz, 24 dB/oct: stopping the cone wasting travel below the passband lets it take 1457 W before hitting the same 20.0 mm. That is 10 percent more amplifier for the price of one filter setting.

Installer's take

A dual 10 that stands 5.9375 inches tall, handles 1500 watts RMS, and goes in a space 12 inches deep. That last part is the point of this cabinet. The standard 30 by 15 dual is the better shape if you have 15 inches of depth; this one is for under a rear bench.

With the footprint fixed at 41 by 12, height was solved to the airspace. Each chamber lands at 0.395 net, essentially the same 0.39 the standard cabinet gives each driver. The motors clear the top panel by 2.31 inches, because Wāvtech specifies no rear clearance requirement on this driver: the magnet sits essentially flush with the frame. Airspace set the height, not the motor.

Qtc 0.873, Fc 49.2 Hz, F3 41.6 Hz on the -2 and Qtc 0.825, Fc 50.8 Hz, F3 44.5 Hz on the -4. Wāvtech's preferred box is 0.35 per driver, so we are a little larger and a little better damped than their target, which is the right side to miss on.

Separate chambers as always. Two drivers sharing one volume interact acoustically, each one's compression stroke becoming the pressure environment the other works against. A full-height bonded divider stops it, and on a 41 inch span it ties the walls together as well.

Wiring is simple since both variants are single voice coil. A pair of -2 drivers presents 1 ohm through the shared cup, a pair of -4 presents 2 ohms. Use two of the same model. Sensitivity is 81 to 82 dB, so feed these properly and make sure the electrical side is up to 1500 watts.

Questions

Why is this dual cabinet 41 inches wide instead of 30?

Because it is only 12 inches deep. Our standard Performance Optimized Down Fire cabinet for this driver is 30 wide by 15 deep, and this one is built for spaces three inches shallower than that, typically under the rear seat of a truck or SUV or on a narrow cargo floor.

Airspace has to come from somewhere. Losing depth means recovering it along the length, so the cabinet runs 41 inches long and stands 5.9375 inches tall, and still keeps each driver in a properly sized separate chamber. If your space is wide and shallow rather than deep, this is the shape that works.

How does this compare to the standard 30 x 15 dual thinPRO10 enclosure?

Same driver, different shape. The standard cabinet is 30 by 15 by 6.25 inches and holds 0.39 cubic feet net per driver. This cabinet is 41 by 12 by 5.9375 inches and holds 0.395 cubic feet net per driver.

That is effectively the same airspace, so acoustically the two are interchangeable. Choose on the space: with 15 inches of depth the standard cabinet is the pick; if depth stops at 12 inches and you have 41 inches of run, this one fits.

How is this enclosure wired, and what impedance will my amplifier see?

Both thinPRO10 variants are single voice coil, so there is no coil configuration decision at the driver. The enclosure uses one side-mounted Proline X terminal cup with a single pair of posts, pre-wired in 12 gauge OFC to both driver positions in parallel.

A pair of thinPRO10-2 drivers presents 1 ohm at the cup, and a pair of thinPRO10-4 presents 2 ohms. Use two of the same model and confirm the resulting load against your amplifier's minimum stable impedance before powering the system.

What alignment does each chamber reach?

Each chamber holds 0.395 cubic feet net. With the thinPRO10-2 that gives Qtc 0.873, Fc 49.2 Hz, F3 41.6 Hz, and with the thinPRO10-4 it gives Qtc 0.825, Fc 50.8 Hz, F3 44.5 Hz.

Wāvtech's preferred box is a 0.35 cubic foot chamber, so this cabinet sits a little larger and a little better damped than their target. Those figures are anechoic; cabin gain adds real output below 50 Hz in a vehicle.

How much power should I run to these subwoofers?

Wāvtech rates each thinPRO10 at 750 watts RMS with 2250 watts peak and recommends 250 to 750 watts per driver, so up to 1500 watts RMS total across the pair. Aim for the upper half of that range.

Sensitivity is 81 dB on the -2 and 82 dB on the -4, which is low. That is the tradeoff for packing a 4.5 inch coil and 20mm of excursion into a 2.875 inch frame, and underpowering leaves significant output unused.

Where is the terminal cup located on a down fire enclosure?

Side mounted, and there is one cup serving both chambers rather than one per chamber. Every Proline X Performance Optimized enclosure uses a side mounted terminal cup regardless of alignment, whether standard, wedge, or down fire. On this cabinet that keeps the connection fully accessible with the enclosure in its installed position, since both baffles face the floor. The cup is our Proline X ABS and carbon fiber composite unit, recessed, with stainless hardware, copper ring terminals, and pre-wired 12 gauge OFC.

How is this enclosure built?

V-groove and dado joinery, CNC-cut on ShopSabre routers from Langboard Elite MDF, with every joint machined to lock mechanically before adhesive goes on, which keeps both chambers airtight under sustained pressure cycling. The chamber divider is a full-height bonded 3/4 inch panel, which also ties the front and rear walls together across the 41 inch span.

Front baffles are a 1.5 inch double layer at both driver positions, with the outer layer machined as a flush recess so each driver bolts to the inner layer. Corners are square, polyfill is installed as a light wall lining in each chamber, and the 1.75 inch standoffs ship uninstalled. Assembled and inspected in Tullahoma, Tennessee.

Are the Wavtech thinPRO10 subwoofers included with this enclosure?

No. This listing is for the enclosure only. Bring your own pair of Wāvtech thinPRO10-2 or thinPRO10-4 subwoofers, two of the same model. The cutouts and mounting depth are direct fit at both driver positions.
