Installer's take

Audiomobile's own ported box for the EVO: 1.0 cubic feet per driver at 34 Hz. No Qes is published, so there is no modeled curve on this page, only the maker's box built properly.

The port is as big as a 30 inch wedge allows at this tuning, 12.95 square inches; I estimate 16 m/s at the mouth at 500 watts, near the line. Stay at or under the rating, or take the dual.

No bolt circle is published, so the inserts ship in the kit. Ships dry, subsonic near 28 Hz.

Why is this enclosure tuned to 34.0 Hz?

This cabinet is built to Audiomobile's own ported box for the EVO 2410: 1.02 cubic feet net, the top of the 0.65 to 1.0 range Audiomobile gives, tuned to 34 Hz through a 13.0 square inch triangular port. Audiomobile does not publish the motor figures (Qes, Qms or Bl) a ported model needs, so this page does not print a modeled F3, ripple or excursion curve the way our other ported pages do: the volume and tuning are the maker's box, not a result of our solver. A 30 inch wedge has room for a 12.95 square inch port at this tuning, smaller than the 18 the EVO's cone displacement would ask for, so the port works harder: an estimated 16 m/s at the mouth at 500 watts, under the 17 m/s line where a port starts to chuff but close to it. Run it at or under the rating. If you want more port headroom, the dual uses the full scaled port.

Why the 20 degree wedge, and why rear-firing?

The rake on the back matches a factory rear seat so the cabinet sits flush and the trunk floor in front stays usable; the baffle is vertical and fires rearward, using the trunk as an acoustic extension.

Do I need a subsonic filter?

Yes. Below 34.0 Hz the port no longer controls the cone; set the filter near 28 Hz.

How much power can I run, and at what impedance?

Audiomobile rates the EVO 2410 at 500 watts RMS; aim for 350 to 500. The single 4 ohm EVO is a 4 ohm load; the dual 4 ohm version wires to 8 or 2 ohms.

Would a sealed box be better for me?

Our sealed EVO wedges hold 0.65 cubic feet per driver at Qtc 0.82, firm and compact. This ported box trades size for more output near 34 Hz on Audiomobile's own ported volume.

How does the side port work?

The port is a triangular slot along the back, 23.4 inches of path, exiting through the side panel with a rounded mouth so the air leaves without a sharp edge to chuff on.

Does this enclosure ship with polyfill?

No, and do not add any: fill in a ported box detunes it.

Is the EVO 2410 included?

No. This is an enclosure only. You receive the cabinet in plush black carpet with the gloss black acrylic insert, the side-mounted pre-wired terminal cup and a threaded insert kit with stainless machine screws.
