This enclosure holds 1.21 cu ft net . In it the MOJO Pro 15 runs a system Qtc of 1.20 with half power at 42.4 Hz, and the cone reaches its 12.95 mm travel limit at 949 W, above the driver’s 750 W thermal rating, so heat stops you before travel does. A 25 Hz subsonic filter adds little here: 956 W against 949 W, 1 percent. The box already resonates at 58 Hz, so its own rolloff has removed most of what the filter would have stopped.

01Is it a sealed driver?

Efficiency bandwidth product places the motor before anything else is decided.

EBP = Fs ÷ Qes = 42.9
SEALED 0–50 TRANSITION 50–100 PORTED 100–150 0 50 100 150 MJP1544 (D4) 42.9
MJP1544 (D4) · EBP 42.9
EBP under 50 means a motor that wants a sealed load. The Memphis Audio MOJO Pro 15 sits at 42.9, inside that band, which is why this is a sealed build rather than a ported one.

02What the box does to it

03The watts that reach Xmax (in this enclosure)

Travel scales with the square root of power, so there is one wattage that puts the cone exactly on 12.95 mm, and in this alignment a subsonic filter barely moves it.

MJP1544 (D4) · 949 W, no filterMJP1544 (D4) · 956 W with subsonic at 25 Hz, 24 dB/octXmax 12.95 mm one-way
Every trace touches the limit and no further, because each is drawn at the exact power that puts that coil on 12.95 mm. Unfiltered that is 949 W, reached first at 47 Hz. It sits above the 750 W the driver can take thermally, so the voice coil gives up before the suspension does. The dashed traces are the same driver behind a subsonic filter at 25 Hz, 24 dB/oct, and they sit almost on top of the solid ones: 956 W against 949 W. At 58 Hz the filter sits well below resonance, where the sealed alignment has already rolled the cone off at 12 dB/oct, so there is little wasted travel left for it to recover. Set it anyway to keep road rumble out of the cone, but do not size the amplifier around it.

Installer's take

I rebuilt this one to the 1.5 cubic feet gross Memphis's 2024 MOJO Pro sheet gives a single MOJO Pro 15, which nets 1.21 once the driver is in. Qtc lands at 1.20 with F3 at 42.4 Hz anechoic. It hits hard around 71 Hz, and a car's cabin gain does the rest down low.

Size the amplifier to the 750 watt rating. The box holds the cone back so firmly that excursion is not the limit until about 949 watts.

The baffle arrives undrilled because Memphis never published the bolt circle. Let the woofer mark its own holes, drill 13/64, press the hurricane nuts in from inside and it goes down square.

Questions

Will the MJP1522 fit as well as the MJP1544?

Yes. Memphis puts both coil versions of the MOJO Pro 15 on the same 15.90 inch frame with a 13.84 inch cutout and 7.88 inches of mounting depth, and this cabinet clears that motor by 0.75 inches at its shallowest point. The Qtc and F3 on this page are worked from the MJP1544; Memphis's MJP1522 column prints a Vas its shared cone and suspension cannot have, so we do not quote an alignment for it.

Why 1.21 cubic feet net?

Memphis's 2024 MOJO Pro sheet gives 1.5 cubic feet gross for one MOJO Pro 15 sealed. This cabinet holds 1.50 after the brace, and the driver itself takes 0.29, leaving 1.21 net. The MJP1544 then runs Qtc 1.202 with fc 57.7 Hz and F3 42.4 Hz anechoic, lifting 2.4 dB around 71 Hz. A 2.00 cubic foot box would bring Qtc to 1.02, in a noticeably larger cabinet.

I found a Memphis sheet that says 2.6 cubic feet. Which is right?

Two Memphis sheets cover this driver. The 2022 MOJO Pro sheet, which the MJP1544 product page still links, gives 2.6 cubic feet gross for a single sealed box, but its whole enclosure block is identical to the ones on Memphis's M7 and MOJO 15 sheets, different drivers with different parameters. The 2024 MOJO Pro sheet changes the single sealed figure to 1.5 cubic feet gross, and that is the volume this cabinet holds.

How much power, and at what impedance?

It is rated 750 watts RMS, so 525 to 750 watts at the wired load. In a box this small the cone would not reach its 0.51 inch Xmax until 949 watts, so the thermal rating is what you size the amplifier to. An MJP1544 wires to 8 ohms in series or 2 in parallel; an MJP1522 to 4 or 1. Many amplifiers are unstable at 1 ohm, so wire the MJP1522 in series for 4 ohms unless the amplifier is rated for 1.

What does the wedge shape do in a trunk?

Its back panel is raked 20 degrees, the same lean as most rear seats, so it sits flat against the seat at 15.29 inches deep on the floor and 8.74 at the top. The woofer faces the trunk lid from the upright baffle and plays into the trunk, which loads that space and carries the bass into the cabin through the seat and rear deck.

How deep does it play, and should I use a subsonic filter?

F3 is 42.4 Hz anechoic, rolling off at 12 dB per octave, and a car adds its own gain under about 40 Hz. A 25 Hz subsonic hardly moves the Xmax power, 949 to 956 watts, because the sealed box already stiffens the cone below 57.7 Hz. Use one to keep rumble out; it is not protecting the driver here.

Why is the baffle two layers thick?

The woofer pushes on its mounting face as hard as it pushes on the air, and a 15 inch cone on a single 3/4 inch sheet makes the sheet move with it. Two bonded layers, 1.5 inches in total, hold the MOJO Pro 15 still, with a cosmetic front layer that recesses the frame flush.

What comes in the box?

The finished cabinet in plush black carpet, one side-mounted terminal cup pre-wired to the driver position, a light polyfill lining sized so it does not change the 1.21 cubic foot volume, and the threaded insert kit: inserts, machine screws, a screw key and the drill bit. The MOJO Pro 15 itself is not included.
