This enclosure holds 0.604 cu ft net per chamber. In it the Kicker Solo-Baric L7T 10 (46L7T102) runs a system Qtc of 0.74–1.05 with half power at 43.0–51.3 Hz, and the cone reaches its 14.2 mm travel limit at 613 W, above the driver’s 500 W thermal rating, so heat stops you before travel does. Run a subsonic filter at 25 Hz and that becomes 672 W — +59 W, or 10 percent more power for the same 14.2 mm of travel.

01Is it a sealed driver?

Efficiency bandwidth product places the motor before anything else is decided.

EBP = Fs ÷ Qes = 50.1–68.1
SEALED 0–50 TRANSITION 50–100 PORTED 100–150 0 50 100 150 D2 68.1 D4 50.1
D2 · EBP 68.1D4 · EBP 50.1
At 50.1–68.1 the Solo-Baric L7T 10 (46L7T102) sits in the transition band, not the sealed band. That is not a mismatch: a transition motor works in either alignment, and sealed buys a smaller box and a gentler roll-off at the cost of some low-end output. Stage 02 shows what this airspace actually does with it.

02What the box does to it

0.604 cu ft against a 36.7 L Vas.

α = Vas ÷ Vb = 2.15  ·  Fc = Fs√(α+1) = 54–56 Hz  ·  Qtc = 0.74–1.05
20 30 50 70 100 150 200 +6 +0 -6 -12 -18 -24 FREQUENCY · Hz LEVEL · dB −3 dB
D2 · Qtc 0.74, Fc 54 Hz, F3 51.3 HzD4 · Qtc 1.05, Fc 56 Hz, F3 43.0 Hz
The box lifts resonance from 29.7–30.4 Hz free-air to 54–56 Hz and half power lands at 43.0–51.3 Hz, anechoic, before any cabin gain. This enclosure ships without a driver, so both coil variants the maker offers are plotted. They do not load the same box the same way.

03The watts that reach Xmax (in this enclosure)

Travel scales with the square root of power, so there is one wattage that puts the cone exactly on 14.2 mm — and a bigger one once a subsonic filter stops it wasting travel below the passband.

PXmax = 613–661 W unfiltered  →  672–723 W with a 25 Hz subsonic
20 30 50 70 100 150 200 0 4 8 12 16 FREQUENCY · Hz CONE TRAVEL · mm PAST LINEAR TRAVEL · Xmax 14.2 mm 613 W reaches Xmax here
D2 · 613 W, no filterD4 · 661 W, no filterD2 · 723 W with subsonic at 25 Hz, 24 dB/octD4 · 672 W with subsonic at 25 Hz, 24 dB/octXmax 14.2 mm one-way
Every trace touches the limit and no further, because each is drawn at the exact power that puts that coil on 14.2 mm. Unfiltered that is 613 W, reached first at 20 Hz. It sits above the 500 W the driver can take thermally, so the voice coil gives up before the suspension does. The dashed traces are the same driver behind a subsonic filter at 25 Hz, 24 dB/oct: stopping the cone wasting travel below the passband lets it take 672 W before hitting the same 14.2 mm. That is 10 percent more amplifier for the price of one filter setting.

Installer's take

865 square centimetres of square cone across the pair, in a cabinet 12 inches deep. Same airspace per driver as our standard 30 x 15 dual L7T, turned sideways: 41 long, 8.125 tall.

Each chamber is 0.604 cubic feet net. The motors clear the lid with 3.62 inches to spare, so airspace set the height.

Print both alignments, because the coil versions are not the same driver: Dual 2-Ohm: Qtc 0.744, Fc 53.9 Hz, F3 51.3 Hz. Dual 4-Ohm: Qtc 1.052, Fc 55.9 Hz, F3 43.0 Hz. The Dual 2-Ohm is the controlled one; the Dual 4-Ohm has lift near the corner. Pick the pair with that in mind.

Both positions cut square to Kicker's template. The corners of an L7T cone are where the extra area lives, and a round hole leaves them unsupported.

Kicker does not publish displacement anywhere, so the 0.07 cubic feet per driver in our net figure is our estimate and labeled that way. Use two of the same model and wire them identically.

Questions

Why is this cabinet 41 inches wide instead of 30?

Because it is only 12 inches deep. The standard Performance Optimized Down Fire platform is 30 wide by 15 deep, and this application needs a cabinet that fits a space three inches shallower than that.

The airspace has to come from somewhere, so the cabinet runs 41 inches long instead of 30 and stands 8.125 inches tall, with each driver still in its own chamber. If you have 15 inches of depth, the standard cabinet is the pick; if your space is long and shallow, under a rear bench or on a narrow cargo floor, this is the shape that fits.

How does this compare to the standard 30 x 15 dual Kicker L7T enclosure?

The standard cabinet is 30 x 15 x 8.6875 inches and gives each driver 0.60 cubic feet net. This cabinet is 41 x 12 x 8.125 and gives each driver 0.604 cubic feet net, within 0.004 cubic feet of the standard box. Acoustically they are effectively the same enclosure. The choice is about shape: the standard box needs 15 inches of depth, this one needs 12 inches of depth and 41 inches of run.

What alignment does this cabinet give, and what is the low-frequency extension?

The chambers match the standard dual L7T cabinet's airspace, and Kicker publishes separate Klippel data for each coil version. At 0.604 cubic feet net per chamber: Dual 2-Ohm: Qtc 0.744, Fc 53.9 Hz, F3 51.3 Hz. Dual 4-Ohm: Qtc 1.052, Fc 55.9 Hz, F3 43.0 Hz. The Dual 4-Ohm's higher Qts gives a peaked alignment in the same chamber.

Those are anechoic figures. Firing into the floor, the sealed rolloff meets rising cabin gain, so in-car response runs deeper than the numbers above.

How is this enclosure wired, and how do I set my final impedance?

One side-mounted Proline X terminal cup with a single pair of posts, pre-wired in 12 gauge OFC to both driver positions in parallel. You do not wire the two chambers separately at the amplifier.

Final impedance is set at the drivers. The L7T 10 comes as a Dual 2-Ohm (46L7T102) or Dual 4-Ohm (46L7T104); use two of the same model and wire them identically. Kicker recommends 500 watts RMS per driver, 1000 combined. Confirm the load against your amplifier's minimum stable impedance.

Are both baffle cutouts actually square?

Yes. Both positions are machined with a 9 5/16 inch square opening cut to Kicker's own published CNC template, including the 1-9/16 inch corner radii the L7T basket expects. The corners of a square cone are where the extra radiating area lives, and a round cutout would leave them overhanging unsupported baffle edge.

Where is the terminal cup located on a down fire enclosure?

Side mounted, and there is one cup serving both chambers rather than one per chamber. Every Proline X Performance Optimized enclosure uses a side mounted terminal cup, and on a down fire cabinet that keeps the connection accessible with the enclosure installed, since both baffles face the floor. The cup is our Proline X ABS and carbon fiber composite unit, recessed, with stainless hardware, copper ring terminals, and 12 gauge OFC pre-wired to both driver positions in parallel.

How is this enclosure built?

V-groove and dado joinery, CNC cut on ShopSabre routers from Langboard Elite MDF. Every panel joint is a machined interlocking groove that mechanically locks the panels before adhesive is applied, which keeps both chambers airtight under sustained pressure cycling. Corners are square, the Down Fire series standard, with no radii.

The front baffle is a double layer at 1.5 inches, with the outer layer machined as a flush recess so each driver bolts to the inner layer. A full-height bonded 3/4 inch divider separates the chambers and ties the front and rear walls together across the 41 inch span. Both openings are cut square to Kicker's published template. Polyfill is installed as a light wall lining. Assembled and inspected in Tullahoma, Tennessee.

Are the Kicker L7T 10 subwoofers included with this enclosure?

No. This listing is for the enclosure only. Bring your own pair of Kicker Solo-Baric L7T 10, 46L7T102 or 46L7T104, two of the same model. The square cutouts and mounting depth are cut specifically for this driver at both positions.
