This enclosure holds 1.003 cu ft net per chamber. In it the Rockford Fosgate T1 Slim runs a system Qtc of 1.15–1.26 with half power at 37.9–38.2 Hz, and the cone reaches its 15.0 mm travel limit at 565 W, above the driver’s 500 W thermal rating, so heat stops you before travel does. A 25 Hz subsonic filter adds little here: 572 W against 565 W, 1 percent. The box already resonates at 51–53 Hz, so its own rolloff has removed most of what the filter would have stopped.

01Is it a sealed driver?

Efficiency bandwidth product places the motor before anything else is decided.

EBP = Fs ÷ Qes = 37.2–40.0
SEALED 0–50 TRANSITION 50–100 PORTED 100–150 0 50 100 150 T1S1-10 (1 ohm) 40.0 T1S2-10 (2 ohm) 37.2
T1S1-10 (1 ohm) · EBP 40.0T1S2-10 (2 ohm) · EBP 37.2
EBP under 50 means a motor that wants a sealed load. The T1 Slim sits at 37.2–40.0, inside that band, which is why this is a sealed build rather than a ported one.

02What the box does to it

1.003 cu ft against a 13.1 L Vas.

α = Vas ÷ Vb = 0.46  ·  Fc = Fs√(α+1) = 51–53 Hz  ·  Qtc = 1.15–1.26

The box lifts resonance from 42.0–43.5 Hz free-air to 51–53 Hz and half power lands at 37.9–38.2 Hz, anechoic, before any cabin gain. This enclosure ships without a driver, so both coil variants the maker offers are plotted. They do not load the same box the same way.

03The watts that reach Xmax (in this enclosure)

Travel scales with the square root of power, so there is one wattage that puts the cone exactly on 15.0 mm, and in this alignment a subsonic filter barely moves it.

PXmax = 565 W unfiltered  →  572–577 W with a 25 Hz subsonic
20 30 50 70 100 150 200 0 4 8 12 16 FREQUENCY · Hz CONE TRAVEL · mm PAST LINEAR TRAVEL · Xmax 15.0 mm 565 W reaches Xmax here

Every trace touches the limit and no further, because each is drawn at the exact power that puts that coil on 15.0 mm. Unfiltered that is 565 W, reached first at 44 Hz. It sits above the 500 W the driver can take thermally, so the voice coil gives up before the suspension does. The dashed traces are the same driver behind a subsonic filter at 25 Hz, 24 dB/oct, and they sit almost on top of the solid ones: 572 W against 565 W. At 51–53 Hz the filter sits well below resonance, where the sealed alignment has already rolled the cone off at 12 dB/oct, so there is little wasted travel left for it to recover. Set it anyway to keep road rumble out of the cone, but do not size the amplifier around it.

Installer's take

The T1 Slim 10 is a genuine 3 inch deep driver with a 2.5 inch four-layer coil and 15 mm of one-way Xmax behind an anodized aluminum cone. This cabinet puts it 12 inches deep for the space under a rear bench.

Here is what you need to understand before you buy a box for it. Free-air Qts is 0.95 on the 1 ohm model and 1.04 on the 2 ohm. Qtc only falls toward Qts as the box grows, never below it, so no sealed enclosure in any car puts a T1 Slim at 0.707. Every box built for it is under-damped with a peak near the corner.

In 1.003 cubic feet net the T1S1-10 sits at Qtc 1.148 with F3 at 37.9 Hz, and the T1S2-10 at Qtc 1.257 with F3 at 38.2 Hz. The peak is what holds F3 that low. It reads as punch, which is exactly what Rockford built this driver to do in a thin box.

Height was solved to the airspace, with nearly 3 inches left above the motor. More volume is the only lever with this driver, so we did not trim it. Single voice coil, so whatever you buy is what the amp sees. Target 350 to 500 watts RMS.

Questions

Why is this cabinet 41 inches wide instead of 30?

Because it is only 12 inches deep. The standard Performance Optimized Down Fire platform is 30 wide by 15 deep, and under a rear seat or on a narrow cargo floor there is often not 15 inches to give.

The airspace lost from the depth is recovered from the length, so the cabinet runs 41 inches instead of 30 and stands 6.6875 inches tall, with the same driver specific chamber. If you do have 15 inches of depth, the standard 30 by 15 cabinet is the better pick.

How does this compare to the standard 30 x 15 T1 Slim 10 enclosure?

The standard cabinet is 30 by 15 by 7 inches and gives the driver 0.99 cubic feet net. This one is 41 by 12 by 6.6875 inches and gives the driver 1.003 cubic feet net. The height was solved to hold the same airspace as the standard box, so the two sit on essentially the same air.

The choice is about shape: the standard box if you have 15 inches of depth, this one when depth is the limit and you have 41 inches of run.

Why is the Qtc above 1.0? Is this enclosure too small?

No. The high Qtc comes from the driver, not the box. Free-air Qts is 0.95 on the T1S1-10 and 1.04 on the T1S2-10, and system Qtc can only approach Qts as the box grows, never drop below it. Because Qts is already above 0.707, no sealed volume of any size gives this driver a textbook flat alignment. A smaller box would make it worse, which is why this cabinet carries 1.003 cubic feet net.

What does an under-damped alignment actually sound like?

A peak just above the corner frequency, roughly 2 dB on the 1 ohm model and 3 dB on the 2 ohm, followed by a steeper rolloff below it. In practice that reads as punch and impact rather than flat, deep extension. The peak is also why F3 lands low here, 37.9 Hz on the T1S1-10 against an Fc of 50.8 Hz. In a vehicle, firing into the floor, it lands where cabin gain is already rising.

Should I choose the T1S1-10 or the T1S2-10?

Both are single voice coil and both fit this cabinet identically. In 1.003 cubic feet net the T1S1-10 lands at Qtc 1.148 with Fc at 50.8 Hz and F3 at 37.9 Hz; the T1S2-10 lands at Qtc 1.257 with Fc at 52.6 Hz and F3 at 38.2 Hz. The 1 ohm model is the better damped of the two. Choose by the load your amplifier is stable into first, then take the damping difference as a secondary consideration.

How do I wire this enclosure?

Straightforward, because both T1 Slim models are single voice coil, so there is no series or parallel decision at the driver. The one side mounted Proline X terminal cup is pre-wired in 12 gauge OFC, and the impedance your amplifier sees is the model you install: 1 ohm for the T1S1-10, 2 ohm for the T1S2-10. Rockford rates both at 500 watts RMS; target 350 to 500 watts RMS and confirm your amplifier is stable at that load.

How is this enclosure built?

V-groove and dado joinery, CNC cut on ShopSabre routers from Langboard Elite MDF, so every panel joint locks mechanically before adhesive is applied. The front baffle is a 1.5 inch double layer with the outer layer machined as a flush recess, and the driver lands on 8/32 threaded inserts with stainless machine screws. A windowed U-brace ties the long 41 inch panels together, polyfill is installed as a light wall lining, and corners are square, the Down Fire series standard. The terminal cup is side mounted so it stays accessible with the baffle facing the floor. Assembled and inspected in Tullahoma, Tennessee.

Is the Rockford Fosgate T1 Slim subwoofer included with this enclosure?

No. This listing is for the enclosure only. Bring your own Rockford Fosgate T1S1-10 or T1S2-10; the cutout and mounting depth are direct fit for either model. We also sell the current Gen-2 Rockford Fosgate T1S2-10S, which uses the same 9.13 inch cutout. The 1.75 inch feet ship uninstalled, for an installed height of 8.4375 inches.
