This enclosure holds 0.80 cu ft net . In it the Audiomobile GT2 2010 runs a system Qtc of 0.96 with half power at 34.6 Hz, and the cone reaches its 11.9 mm travel limit at 194 W, below the driver’s 400 W thermal rating, so travel is what stops you here, not heat. Run a subsonic filter at 25 Hz and that becomes 218 W — +24 W, or 12 percent more power for the same 11.9 mm of travel.

01Is it a sealed driver?

Efficiency bandwidth product places the motor before anything else is decided.

EBP = Fs ÷ Qes = 43.0
SEALED 0–50 TRANSITION 50–100 PORTED 100–150 0 50 100 150 3 ohm 43.0
3 ohm · EBP 43.0
EBP under 50 means a motor that wants a sealed load. The GT2 2010 sits at 43.0, inside that band, which is why this is a sealed build rather than a ported one.

02What the box does to it

0.80 cu ft against a 33.2 L Vas.

α = Vas ÷ Vb = 1.47  ·  Fc = Fs√(α+1) = 43 Hz  ·  Qtc = 0.96
20 30 50 70 100 150 200 +6 +0 -6 -12 -18 -24 FREQUENCY · Hz LEVEL · dB −3 dB
3 ohm · Qtc 0.96, Fc 43 Hz, F3 34.6 Hz
The box lifts resonance from 27.5 Hz free-air to 43 Hz and half power lands at 34.6 Hz, anechoic, before any cabin gain. Audiomobile recommends only a vented box for the GT2 2010 and publishes no displacement; 0.088 cubic feet is estimated. With a Qts of 0.61 no trunk-sized sealed box reaches maximally flat; 0.80 cubic feet per driver reads Qtc 0.96.

03The watts that reach Xmax (in this enclosure)

Travel scales with the square root of power, so there is one wattage that puts the cone exactly on 11.9 mm — and a bigger one once a subsonic filter stops it wasting travel below the passband.

PXmax = 194 W unfiltered  →  218 W with a 25 Hz subsonic
20 30 50 70 100 150 200 0 4 8 12 FREQUENCY · Hz CONE TRAVEL · mm PAST LINEAR TRAVEL · Xmax 11.9 mm 194 W reaches Xmax here
3 ohm · 194 W, no filter3 ohm · 218 W with subsonic at 25 Hz, 24 dB/octXmax 11.9 mm one-way
Every trace touches the limit and no further, because each is drawn at the exact power that puts that coil on 11.9 mm. Unfiltered that is 194 W, reached first at 29 Hz. It sits under the 400 W the driver can take thermally, so the enclosure sets the ceiling, not the voice coil. The dashed traces are the same driver behind a subsonic filter at 25 Hz, 24 dB/oct: stopping the cone wasting travel below the passband lets it take 218 W before hitting the same 11.9 mm. That is 12 percent more amplifier for the price of one filter setting.

Installer's take

0.80 cubic feet per chamber, Qtc 0.958, F3 34.6 Hz. The GT2 is a 0.61 Qts driver, so sealed it is punchy rather than flat; flat would take 3.4 cubic feet.

Two chambers, pinned at the 32 inch cap and 15 tall: 8.18 at the top, 13.64 at the base.

Audiomobile recommends the GT2 vented. This is the sealed choice for a buyer who wants it tight and small; the vented box goes deeper.

No published bolt circle, so the inserts ship in the kit: mark from the driver, drill, press. Sealed, so leave the polyfill as it is, 280 to 400 watts per driver.

Questions

Does this fit the Audiomobile GT2 2010, and will any other 10 inch fit?

The GT2 2010, yes. The baffle is cut to 9.2 in, Audiomobile's published mounting hole, and the 4.25 in motor clears the raked back with 3.24 in to spare. Run two so the chambers match.

Any other 10, no. The airspace is set for the GT2's own Qts and Vas, and a different woofer that happened to drop into the hole would not see the alignment printed on this page.

Why 0.80 cubic feet per chamber, and what alignment does it target?

0.80 cubic feet net per chamber on Fs 27.5 Hz, Qts 0.61 and Vas 33.2 liters: Qtc 0.958, system resonance 43.2 Hz, half power 34.6 Hz. That is above maximally flat, a firm, punchy sealed box with a lift near resonance. A Qts of 0.61 is high enough that the flat box would need 3.4 cubic feet, far past what a trunk wedge should be, and Audiomobile itself recommends the GT2 vented, 0.75 to 1.25 cubic feet at 33 to 37 Hz; this is the sealed alternative.

Audiomobile publishes no displacement for the GT2 2010, so an estimated 0.088 cubic feet per driver is taken out of the net figure.

What amplifier power should I run, and how should I wire it?

Audiomobile rates the GT2 2010 at 400 watts RMS per driver, so target 280 to 400 watts RMS per driver at the final load.

Each GT2 2010 has a single 3 ohm coil (2.8 ohms DC). Two in parallel present 1.5 ohms, two in series 6 ohms; use 1.5 ohms only on an amplifier rated stable there. Confirm your amplifier's minimum stable impedance first.

Why the wedge angle, and why rear-firing into the trunk?

The seat-side face carries a 20 degree rake that matches the lean of a factory rear seat back, so the cabinet sits flush against it and the cargo space in front stays usable. The baffle is the vertical trunk-lid-side face, so the drivers fire rearward into the trunk cavity.

The trunk acts as an acoustic extension for the sealed box, and the cabin adds real output below 50 Hz, so in-vehicle response runs deeper than the anechoic 34.6 Hz on this page.

Why two separate chambers instead of one shared volume?

Two drivers sharing one sealed volume load each other: each driver's compression stroke becomes the pressure the other works against, which blurs the alignment either would have alone. A bonded full-height 3/4 inch divider gives each driver its own 0.80 cubic feet and its own polyfill.

It also means a failure in one driver does not unload the other, and the alignment on this page is the alignment in each chamber, not an average across a shared box.

What is the expected low-frequency extension?

Anechoic F3 is 34.6 Hz per chamber with system resonance at 43.2 Hz. Above Qtc 0.707 F3 sits below fc, so the response carries a lift near resonance before it rolls off.

Those figures exclude cabin gain. In a car the cabin's transfer function adds real output below 50 Hz, so in-vehicle response runs deeper than the numbers above.

Do I need to add polyfill or damping?

No. Polyfill is already installed in both chambers as a light wall lining to control internal reflections, and the quantity is chosen so it does not change the acoustic volume.

Do not add more. Packing a sealed box with fill makes it behave as though it were larger, which walks the alignment away from the 0.80 cubic feet per chamber this cabinet was built to.

Is the driver included, and are the threaded inserts installed?

No driver. This is an enclosure only. You receive the cabinet finished in plush black carpet with the gloss black acrylic baffle insert, one side-mounted pre-wired terminal cup to both positions, the polyfill lining already in place, and a threaded insert kit with stainless machine screws.

The inserts ship loose on purpose: Audiomobile prints no bolt circle for the GT2 2010, so you set the driver in its recess, mark its holes, drill and press the inserts. The pair of GT2 2010 is purchased separately.
