Performance in this enclosure
01Is it a sealed driver?
Efficiency bandwidth product places the motor before anything else is decided.
02What the box does to it
0.60 cu ft against a 42.0 L Vas.
03The watts that reach Xmax (in this enclosure)
Travel scales with the square root of power, so there is one wattage that puts the cone exactly on 20.0 mm — and a bigger one once a subsonic filter stops it wasting travel below the passband.
| Param | Value | Unit | Note |
|---|---|---|---|

Installer's take
The dual thinPRO 12 in an 8" deep enclosure is the product that ends the conversation about shallow-mount limitations. Two 12" competition-grade drivers running 1,500W combined in a system that fits in a trunk floor at 8" deep: there is no conventional dual 12" setup that comes close to this footprint. The 5" voice coils and strontium magnet motors are what make it work. This is not two budget shallow drivers in a box.
The impedance selection at checkout drives the amplifier conversation more than anything else on this product. Know your amplifier before you order. The 1-ohm option gives you the most power from a high-output monoblock but requires an amplifier explicitly rated for 1-ohm operation, not all amps that claim 1-ohm are thermally stable at sustained power. The 2-ohm option is the broadest match for quality Class D monoblocks. The 4-ohm option is the safest electrical choice but requires a monoblock with strong 4-ohm output ratings to hit the power ceiling these drivers need.
At 29" wide and 15" deep, measure your trunk floor before ordering. This is a significant footprint even at 8" tall.

Questions
How much power do I need for the dual Wavtech thinPRO12 setup?
The combined system requires an amplifier capable of delivering 1000-1500 watts RMS at the final impedance of your configuration. Make sure your vehicle's electrical system can support this additional power demand.
Can I use this in a ported enclosure instead of sealed?
While the Wavtech thinPRO12 can work in ported enclosures, this particular Proline-X Micro Series is a sealed design optimized for sound quality and compact dimensions. For ported applications, consider Proline-X's ported enclosure options.
Will this fit in the trunk of my sedan?
The Proline-X Micro Series is specifically designed for space-constrained applications. Its compact dimensions make it suitable for most sedan trunks, but we recommend measuring your available space before purchasing.
How does the downfiring option improve sound?
Downfiring installation can enhance bass response by using the vehicle's floor as a natural amplifier and diffuser. This often produces a more evenly distributed bass experience throughout the vehicle.
What wire gauge should I use for connecting to my amplifier?
For the power levels these subwoofers handle, we recommend 4-gauge OFC (oxygen-free copper) wire for the main power run and 8-gauge speaker wire from the amplifier to the enclosure.
Do I need a special amplifier for shallow-mount subwoofers?
No, but you should select an amplifier that matches the power handling and impedance of the subwoofers. The recommended amplifiers in this listing are ideal matches for the dual thinPRO12 configuration.
How does this system compare to traditional deep-mount subwoofers?
The Wavtech thinPRO12 outperforms most shallow-mount competitors and rivals many traditional subwoofers in sound quality. While the most extreme SPL applications might still benefit from deep-mount designs, this system provides an exceptional balance of performance and space efficiency.
What is the lead time and how does shipping work?
This system is assembled to order in Tullahoma, Tennessee. Allow 2–5 business days for assembly before it ships. Shipping to the lower 48 states is included. No freight charges added at checkout. You'll receive a tracking number when the order ships.
