This enclosure holds 0.60 cu ft net per chamber. In it the Wavtech thinPRO12 runs a system Qtc of 0.86 with half power at 41.4 Hz, and the cone reaches its 20.0 mm travel limit at 1600 W, above the driver’s 750 W thermal rating, so heat stops you before travel does. Run a subsonic filter at 25 Hz and that becomes 1787 W — +186 W, or 12 percent more power for the same 20.0 mm of travel.

01Is it a sealed driver?

Efficiency bandwidth product places the motor before anything else is decided.

EBP = Fs ÷ Qes = 51.0
SEALED 0–50 TRANSITION 50–100 PORTED 100–150 0 50 100 150 4 51.0
4 · EBP 51.0
At 51.0 the thinPRO12 sits in the transition band, not the sealed band. That is not a mismatch: a transition motor works in either alignment, and sealed buys a smaller box and a gentler roll-off at the cost of some low-end output. Stage 02 shows what this airspace actually does with it.

02What the box does to it

0.60 cu ft against a 42.0 L Vas.

α = Vas ÷ Vb = 2.47  ·  Fc = Fs√(α+1) = 48 Hz  ·  Qtc = 0.86
20 30 50 70 100 150 200 +6 +0 -6 -12 -18 -24 FREQUENCY · Hz LEVEL · dB −3 dB
4 · Qtc 0.86, Fc 48 Hz, F3 41.4 Hz
The box lifts resonance from 26.0 Hz free-air to 48 Hz and half power lands at 41.4 Hz, anechoic, before any cabin gain.

03The watts that reach Xmax (in this enclosure)

Travel scales with the square root of power, so there is one wattage that puts the cone exactly on 20.0 mm — and a bigger one once a subsonic filter stops it wasting travel below the passband.

PXmax = 1600 W unfiltered  →  1787 W with a 25 Hz subsonic
20 30 50 70 100 150 200 0 8 16 24 FREQUENCY · Hz CONE TRAVEL · mm PAST LINEAR TRAVEL · Xmax 20.0 mm 1600 W reaches Xmax here
4 · 1600 W, no filter4 · 1787 W with subsonic at 25 Hz, 24 dB/octXmax 20.0 mm one-way
Every trace touches the limit and no further, because each is drawn at the exact power that puts that coil on 20.0 mm. Unfiltered that is 1600 W, reached first at 27 Hz. It sits above the 750 W the driver can take thermally, so the voice coil gives up before the suspension does. The dashed traces are the same driver behind a subsonic filter at 25 Hz, 24 dB/oct: stopping the cone wasting travel below the passband lets it take 1787 W before hitting the same 20.0 mm. That is 12 percent more amplifier for the price of one filter setting.

Installer's take

Confirm the year first. This is the 2024 to 2026 F-150 cabinet, not the 2015 to 2023 shell.

The thinPRO 12 is the reason this build works at all. It is a 12 inch driver with 3.0 inches of mounting depth and 20mm of one-way Xmax, so you get twelve inch cone area in a space that normally only takes a ten. Cutout is 11.125 inches, and the cabinet accepts up to 3.5 inches of depth.

Respect the power rating but not blindly. The driver is rated 750 watts RMS, and in 0.60 cubic feet the box is doing the limiting long before the coil is. Excursion runs out before thermal does in a volume this small, so listen for mechanical noise rather than trusting the number on the amp.

Questions

What subwoofers are compatible with this enclosure?

Yes, this enclosure is designed for the 2024+ Ford F-150 and fits behind the rear seat without requiring permanent modifications. However, the back wall carpet will need to be modified or removed to ensure a proper fit. Additionally, jack relocation is required, as the enclosure takes up the space where the factory jack is stored. Once installed, the enclosure sits securely in place and does not interfere with seat functionality. The design follows the factory contours, ensuring a clean, OEM-style integration into your truck’s interior.

How does the Wavtech ThinPro 12 perform in this enclosure?

The Wavtech ThinPro 12 is optimized for small sealed enclosures, making it an excellent match for this .6 cubic foot design. It delivers tight, controlled bass with deep low-frequency extension, ensuring clarity even at high volumes. The subwoofer’s high-excursion capability and efficient motor design allow it to produce powerful bass without requiring excessive amplifier power. In this enclosure, it provides punchy, responsive sound, enhancing your music experience. The sealed design helps maintain accurate sound reproduction, making it ideal for various music genres.

Does this enclosure affect the functionality of the rear seats?

No, this subwoofer enclosure is designed to fit securely behind the rear seat without interfering with seat operation. The compact dimensions ensure that the seats can fold and function as intended. It does not obstruct access to seat belts or rear storage compartments. The enclosure remains flush with the existing layout to maintain comfort and usability. This allows you to enjoy enhanced bass performance without sacrificing practicality.

What amplifier do I need for the Wavtech ThinPro 12?

The Wavtech ThinPro 12 is rated at 750W RMS, so it should be paired with an amplifier that delivers 250-750W RMS at 2 or 4 ohms, depending on your wiring configuration. A monoblock Class D amplifier is recommended for efficiency and power handling. Ensure your amplifier has a subsonic filter and adjustable gain settings to fine-tune performance. Proper amplifier matching prevents distortion and maximizes output without overpowering the subwoofer. Always use quality wiring and secure connections to avoid voltage drops and ensure consistent performance.

Is this enclosure sealed or ported?

This enclosure is a sealed design, meaning it provides tight, accurate bass with a natural roll-off. Sealed enclosures require less airspace and work well in limited-space applications like behind a truck seat. They also prevent unwanted air turbulence, reducing distortion and maintaining clean low-end response. The sealed design ensures fast transient response, making it ideal for music that requires precision, such as rock, jazz, and electronic genres. While it won’t be as loud as a ported enclosure, it provides better overall sound quality and control.

What materials are used to construct this subwoofer enclosure?

This enclosure is built from high-quality MDF (medium-density fiberboard), which provides durability and minimizes unwanted vibrations for clean, distortion-free bass. It is covered in Plush Black Carpet, giving it a sleek, premium appearance that blends seamlessly with most vehicle interiors. The enclosure includes a high-power terminal cup, ensuring secure and efficient connectivity for optimal power transfer to the subwoofer. Internal bracing reinforces the structure to prevent panel flex, allowing for consistent bass output. The sealed design is precision-tuned to provide the ideal airspace for the Wavtech ThinPro 12, maximizing its performance.

Does this subwoofer box interfere with rear seat functionality?

No, this subwoofer enclosure is designed to fit discreetly behind the rear seat without affecting normal seat operation. Once installed, the seat can be locked back into place, and passengers can sit comfortably without interference. The enclosure does not reduce legroom or usable interior space in the truck. It is shaped to utilize dead space, ensuring it does not obstruct seat belts or factory mounting points. This makes it a stealthy, OEM-style upgrade for F-150 owners looking for improved bass.
