This enclosure holds 0.53 cu ft net per driver. In it the JL Audio 10TW3-D4 runs a system Qtc of 0.95 with half power at 39.8 Hz, and the cone reaches its 15.2 mm travel limit at 651 W, above the driver’s 400 W thermal rating, so heat stops you before travel does. Run a subsonic filter at 25 Hz and that becomes 691 W — +41 W, or 6 percent more power for the same 15.2 mm of travel.

03The watts that reach Xmax (in this enclosure)

Travel scales with the square root of power, so there is one wattage that puts the cone exactly on 15.2 mm — and a bigger one once a subsonic filter stops it wasting travel below the passband.

Every trace touches the limit and no further, because each is drawn at the exact power that puts that coil on 15.2 mm. Unfiltered that is 651 W, reached first at 33 Hz. It sits above the 400 W the driver can take thermally, so the voice coil gives up before the suspension does. The dashed traces are the same driver behind a subsonic filter at 25 Hz, 24 dB/oct: stopping the cone wasting travel below the passband lets it take 691 W before hitting the same 15.2 mm. That is 6 percent more amplifier for the price of one filter setting.

Installer's take

Plan the impedance first. Two 10TW3-D4s each present their coils in parallel at the cup, and how you join the pair sets the load your amplifier sees. Decide that before ordering rather than improvising behind the seat with the trim panel off.

This is a common chamber build. There is no divider, because behind seat depth will not take one, so both drivers share 1.05 cubic feet at 0.525 cubic feet of loading each. The 10TW3-D4 needs 3.25 inches of depth and the cabinet takes up to 3.5.

Two of these move considerably more air than one, and the cab does the rest. Target 600 to 800 watts RMS total, set the gain with the seat in its normal position, and recheck the seat bolts after a week of driving.

What subwoofer is in this enclosure?

This enclosure ships loaded with the JL Audio 10TW3-D4 subwoofer, built to fit the Ford F-150, pre-wired and ready to mount and connect.

Is it ready to install?

Yes. It is CNC-cut from Langboard Elite MDF at our Tennessee facility with the sub set and pre-wired, so you mount it and connect your amplifier.

What warranty does it carry?

The Proline X enclosure carries a 2-year warranty and the subwoofer its manufacturer warranty, with lifetime install support from Audio Intensity.

Can I order this without the 10TW3-D4 installed?

Yes. Order it bare and mount your own, or order it loaded and we mount the drivers, dress the wiring and ship it ready to bolt in.

What impedance does it ship wired to?

Dual 4 ohm, coils wired in parallel to 2 ohm per driver. Both drivers land at the terminal cup, so the final system load depends on how you join them at the amplifier.

Is this common chamber or dual chamber?

Common chamber. Both drivers share a single 1.05 cubic foot volume, 0.525 cubic feet of loading each.

What amplifier should I run?

Target 600 to 800 watts RMS total. Dual 4 ohm, coils wired in parallel to 2 ohm per driver. A clean Class D monoblock in that range is the correct match.
