Modelled response
Performance in this enclosure
01Is this driver right for a ported box?
Efficiency bandwidth product places the motor before anything else is decided.
02What the box does to it
2.01 cu ft net against a 8.7 L Vas, vented at 30.0 Hz.
03Ported vs Sealed
No sealed comparison is shown for this driver.
04The watts that reach Xmax (in this enclosure)
Travel scales with the square root of power, so there is one wattage that puts the cone exactly on Kicker's published 31.2 mm. The two traces are the same cabinet with the subsonic filter switched on and switched off.

Installer's take
I built this one to give the L7X 10 the airspace Kicker calls for without going to a full fifteen-inch shell.
The port runs clean to 2400 watts before the mouth starts moving faster than I like; past that you are trading efficiency for chuff, not more output.
Wire the single D2 coil in series for a nominal 4 ohms, or parallel for 1 ohm only on an amplifier rated for that load. Set your subsonic filter at 24 Hz.
It ships dry. Do not add polyfill to a ported box.

Questions
Why is this enclosure tuned to 30.0 Hz?
F3 lands at 25.6 Hz on this airspace, and passband ripple holds at 4.09 dB, inside the ceiling we hold new designs to. The port stays under the chuff threshold up to 2400 W, above which the mouth velocity crosses Kicker's own reference; that is well past the power most trunk boxes this size ever see. Set the subsonic filter at 24 Hz and leave it there below tuning. Tuning is chosen for in-car response rather than an anechoic curve: a vehicle adds roughly 12 dB per octave below about 45 Hz, and this tuning is where that sum comes out flattest across 25 to 60 Hz.
What makes this Professional rather than Performance Optimized?
The box. A Performance Optimized cabinet is cut to fit a trunk shape on a 1.5 inch double baffle; this one is a full-size front-firing box on a 2.25 inch baffle built from three 3/4 inch layers with the woofer flush-mounted in the outer layer, Kicker logo acrylic, and a port checked at 2400 W rather than the rating. It carries a 2 year warranty, against 1 year on the Performance Optimized lines.
Threaded inserts or a kit?
Threaded insert kit included, inserts NOT pre-installed: the manufacturer publishes no mounting hole locations, so the kit ships with the box for installation when the woofer goes in: 8 to 12 inserts sized to the woofer, the correct drill bit, 2.5 inch allen-head screws, allen key and gasket tape. One kit serves one woofer; a dual cabinet ships two.
Do I need a subsonic filter?
Yes, at 24 Hz, 24 dB per octave. Below tuning a vented box stops loading the cone and excursion runs away toward DC. With the filter in place this cabinet puts the Kicker Solo-Baric L7X 10 at 47 percent of its usable travel at 2400 W.
Would a sealed box be better for me?
Not one we can show you. We do not build a sealed enclosure for the Kicker Solo-Baric L7X 10 and Kicker publish no sealed volume for it, so the Performance Graphs tab carries no ported-versus-sealed chart: the only sealed box left to plot would be this cabinet stuffed and sealed, which nobody would build, and a comparison against it would tell you nothing you could buy. What a vented box gives up is the region below tuning, where the cone unloads and the 24 Hz subsonic filter takes over; around 30.0 Hz the vent carries the load and cone travel drops to its minimum, which no sealed alignment can do.
How does the front port work?
It is a vertical slot beside the woofer, 47.1 square inches, tuned to 30.0 Hz. The port stays under the chuff threshold at 2400 W, the design power basis.
How heavy is it and how does it ship?
70 lb, 32.00" W x 16.00" H x 18.50" D external. It ships as a UPS parcel; the price includes shipping in the 48 states. Do not add polyfill; it ships dry on purpose.
Is the Solo-Baric L7X 10 included?
No. This is an enclosure only, cut for the Kicker Solo-Baric L7X 10 specifically: the 9.312 inch cutout and the 9.438 inch mounting depth allowance come from Kicker's published parameters. The baffle cutout is machined to the L7X square frame and is not cross-compatible with round drivers. Bring your own driver.
